Aditya Patel displays an impressive start at the season-opening race

Chennai lad Aditya Patel got off to an impressive start to his 2011 campaign notching up a fourth place finish at the Hockenheimring in Germany on Saturday. Fourth place in qualifying put Aditya in an extremely good position to fight for a podium finish and was also a confidence booster.

At the start, Aditya managed to make the jump on fellow pro driver, Ola Nillson of Sweden, to take third place. From there on, it was a battle with the leaders for the top spot. While the top three drivers, Mateusz lizowski, Daniel Lloyd and Aditya were concentrating on holding their respective positions, F1 and world touring car Legend Nicola Larini crept up on them from behind and made his move on Aditya with two laps to go thereby pushing the young Indian back to fourth. While all this was going on in front, the other Indian, Sailesh Bolisetti who finished 18th, made good progress over the weekend and also learnt from his experience at his first international race.

Aditya was not disappointed with the fourth place finish as Larini, being a legend, would not be awarded points and hence leaves Aditya 3rd in the points table after round 1. "It's extremely encouraging to end the first round on a positive note. With a few more improvements from my side, I'm confident of better results in the races to come!", said a rather happy Patel after the race.

The Next race will be at Speilberg in Austria.
