What just happened there? What fantasy got waylaid and railroaded off the tracks? Who would've thought that a season that started off with marked progress would midway turn into a nightmare?
Webber's trials and tribulations at the Valencia GP and his near misses on the podiums in the previous few races, raises the question as to "what is going wrong in the scheme of things?" He is in an unique position where nobody expected him to rise to the top of the points, and when he did, it was like a slap in the face of his detractors.
Then came disaster. I guess it must have been waiting at Mark's door and he must have let it in inadvertently. Cause as unprepared as he was to handle the gain in points, we were pained to watch the loss of points, the loss of possible podiums, the loss of championship edge on race day. We banged our heads in frustration. Some of us also tried to rationalize that Red Bull had its favorites in Sebastian Vettel and that it would do all in it's power to anoint him the new WDC if it was all left to Red Bull to do it. To give credibility to that, we saw some mishaps that involved Vettel being the cause for Webber's downfall at least in one instance of gamesmanship.
The thunder from down under seems to still be far off, but we can hope, right!
We can hope that the next few races will see a resurgent Mark Webber going to the top of the field. We can hope for Mark Webber to define this season for us, for after all don't we all love being shocked and surprised out of our wits with something unforeseen happening?!
